I&M Signs White House’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge

Reaffirming our commitment to our customers and affordability, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) today signed the White House's Ratepayer Protection Pledge. This pledge reaffirms a core principle that has guided I&M's approach to serving new and expanding customers: growth should benefit everyone. The White House's Ratepayer Protection Pledge promotes responsible growth by helping ensure customers benefit from new investment and are not unfairly burdened by the costs of serving large energy users. By signing the pledge, I&M is reaffirming the approach it is already taking as energy demand grows across the region.

I&M customers are already seeing benefits from growth that help keep bills lower:

  • Lower transmission- and supply-related costs helping offset other bill impacts in both Indiana and Michigan.
  • Two consecutive quarters of declining transmission rates for Indiana customers.
  • A 7.9% bill reduction in Michigan through the Power Supply Cost Recovery adjustment.
  • A planned base rate reduction and freeze of non-fuel rates in 2027 for Indiana customers.

The trend reflects ongoing efforts to manage costs while continuing to deliver safe and reliable electric service.

To help customers better manage their energy costs, I&M also offers the Bill Support Center with tools and resources to understand bill changes, explore rate options, access payment assistance programs, and find energy-saving rebates and bill credits.
