A person who has committed domestic violence shall be subject to electronic monitoring

The obligation to be subject to electronic monitoring is established for the perpetrator. The previous package of amendments provided for the possibilities of using electronic monitoring tools, but the obligation was not established.

The proposed addenda to the law on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Protection of Persons Subjected to Domestic Violence and the Criminal Code were presented for debate at the sitting of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan.

The Criminal Code also establishes a sanction for failure to fulfill this obligation. The law will enter into force in March of next year.

The legislative package was endorsed by the Committee.

The Committee voted for the draft resolution on exercising control over the implementation of laws in the field of human rights protection.

The issues were debated at the Committee sitting on September 4.
