"The Lineman's Rodeo is a chance for our lineworkers and apprentices to showcase the skills they use every day to keep the lights on for our customers," said Jason Klein, vice president of electric operations at Ameren Illinois. "It's also an opportunity to compete alongside some of the best lineworkers in the world, learn from one another and represent Ameren and the communities we serve."

Teams will compete in events that replicate real-world field scenarios, including the Hurtman Rescue (which simulates rescuing an injured worker from the top of a utility pole), Pole Climb (a timed event that tests climbing ability, proper technique and safety procedures) and two mystery events (simulated work assignments that mirror the unexpected situations lineworkers can encounter on the job, requiring safe decision-making and technical expertise). Competitors are evaluated on safety, job knowledge, work practices and overall performance. Apprentices also complete a written examination in addition to the hands-on events.

"The work our lineworkers and apprentices perform is essential to delivering safe and reliable energy to our customers," said Landy Wince, senior director of division operations at Ameren Missouri. "This event highlights the professionalism, training and dedication that define their craft and allows them to showcase those skills on an international stage."

The International Lineman's Rodeo has become a celebrated tradition within the utility industry, recognizing the important role lineworkers play in keeping communities powered while fostering a strong culture of safety and excellence.
