On April 4, 2026, just before 11:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a restaurant in the 1400 block of Henderson Highway for the report of an assault with a weapon.
Upon arrival, investigators learned that a man had walked into the restaurant earlier in the evening. A dispute occurred with another patron while paying the bill. The man produced a knife and held it to the patron's throat before being pushed away and escorted out of the restaurant by one of the man's friends. The patron suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
On April 19, 2026, just before 2:30 p.m., the man was located in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue by members of the Winnipeg Police Service's Foot Patrol Unit and arrested.
A 31-year-old man is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon x 2 and was released on an Undertaking.
