UC Community Rolls Up Its Sleeves for Labor of Love

Few events better reflect the University of Charleston's mission than Labor of Love, the annual day of service held each Labor Day.

Last year, nearly 1,500 students, faculty, staff, and coaches came together to participate in nearly 50 community service projects throughout the region, putting UC's commitment to productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement into action.

This year, the UC community will come together to offer its help on Monday, September 7, from 7:00 a.m. to noon at various locations around Charleston. Students, faculty, coaches, and staff will spend the morning serving others and strengthening connections with the communities they call home. Scheduled projects include neighborhood cleanups and beautification projects, meal preparation and food distribution, and other outreach efforts.

"Labor of Love is more than a day of service - it's a tradition that reflects our deep commitment to Charleston and the communities we serve. Together, we build stronger connections, meet real needs, and show what it truly means to be Charleston's University™."

In Charleston, UC and KRT buses will begin transporting students from campus Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. A second group will leave campus at 9:30 a.m.

The morning will transition into an afternoon of Lounging on the Lawn, a fun and relaxing reward for the hard work. It will take place on the riverbank lawn on the Charleston campus beginning at 11:00 a.m.

UC-Beckley students will participate in projects organized by their program directors. Online students are encouraged to participate in community service from wherever they are.
