Bronson introduced as UW-Oshkosh head women's basketball coach

Lindsay Bronson, officially announced Wednesday as head women's basketball coach at UW-Oshkosh, takes over the Titans program following the departure longtime coach Brad Fischer.

Lindsay Bronson, new head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh women's basketball team, will soon begin putting her stamp on the program.

Following Brad Fischer's highly successful 14-year tenure, Bronson says she is ready for the challenge and excited to get started.

She was introduced Wednesday at a press conference on the UWO campus.

"I'm incredibly honored to be the next leader of the UW-Oshkosh women's basketball program," she said, calling it a "once in a lifetime job" and one that doesn't come open often.

Bronson took the reins of the Titans program on Aug. 3 and is the just the sixth head coach in the 56-year history of UWO women's basketball. She said she was drawn to the job by the culture in athletics and the expectation to compete at a very high level.

Darryl Sims, UW-Oshkosh assistant chancellor for intercollegiate athletics, said responsibility to lead the program has been entrusted to Bronson.

"We are excited about your vision, we're excited about your leadership and most importantly we're excited about what we can build together," he said. "There are moments in athletics where you recognize that you are standing at the intersection of tradition and possibility. This is one of those moments."

Sims said the standard that has been established is understood and it now is time to determine where women's basketball will go next.

"Our vision is clear," he said. "Championship-level competiton, championship-level academics, championship-level student-athlete development, championship-level relationships and a program positioned to compete nationally while representing the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with distinction."

Bronson said she is grateful for the opportunity to build upon the tradition of excellence and for the confidence placed in her.

"My family and I are excited to become part of the Titan community," she said.

Record of success

UW-Oshkosh women's basketball has earned 17 WIAC regular season championships, seven WIAC Tournament titles and has qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship 21 times, winning the 1996 national title at Kolf Sports Center.

Bronson comes to Oshkosh from Carroll University, where she had served as the head coach of the Pioneers since 2017. She led the Pioneers to a 134-114 record, including a 100-36 mark in the last five seasons.

Also Carroll's Senior Woman Administrator, Bronson has served on the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship Regional Advisory Committee since 2024.

Bronson said she first learned on social media that Fischer was departing. She spoke with her family about her interest in the position and her sons, who are middle school students, encouraged her to apply.

She said her current roster has 19 players-a healthy size and with depth at every position. She is looking for high energy, up tempo play from her players in practice and in games.

Emily La Chapell of Appleton, a fifth year transfer player who is a graduate student at UWO, said she is looking forward to playing under Coach Bronson and for the team to begin practice next month.

Coaching honors

Taking over a squad that posted a 1-23 record in her first season, Bronson led Carroll to a top-2 finish in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in each of the last four seasons with a share of the league's regular season championship in 2024 and 2026. She was named the conference coach of the year in 2024 and earned the award alongside her staff in 2026 after the league transitioned from honoring only the head coach to recognizing the entire coaching staff.

Prior to arriving in Waukesha, Bronson was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Bradley University (Ill.) from 2013-16. The Braves' recruiting coordinator her first three seasons, she transitioned into the defensive coordinator role in her final season in Peoria.

Bronson coached at Division II UW-Parkside (2012) and Division I UW-Milwaukee (2008-10) after serving as Milwaukee's Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator for the 2007 season.

She played collegiate basketball at former NAIA Division II member Cardinal Stritch University from 2001-04 where she was an NAIA All-American Scholar twice and the NAIA Champions of Character award recipient her senior season. During her time at Cardinal Stritch, the Prairie Wolves qualified for the NAIA Division II Tournament three times and posted a program-record 31 wins in 2004. Following her graduation, Bronson served as an assistant coach for the 2006 season, helping the team to the quarterfinal round of the national tournament.

Bronson graduated from Cardinal Stritch in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and secondary education; and in 2011, earned her master's degree in sport management.

UWO opens 2026-27 season Nov 7 in tournament play against Bronson's former team, Carroll University. It's a game that was scheduled before Bronson was hired at Oshkosh.
