NEXT WEEK: Senate HELP Committee to Consider Trump Nominees, Bill Cracking Down on Student Aid Fraud

WASHINGTON - On Thursday, September 24, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee will vote on several Trump administration nominees at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and National Mediation Board, as well as legislation to eliminate student aid fraud in higher education.

Agenda:

  • Nomination of Nicole Saphier to be Medical Director in the Regular Corps of the Public Health Service and Surgeon General of the Public Health Service, Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Nomination of Timothy Westlake to be Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Nomination of Mary Lazare to be Assistant Sectary for Aging, Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Nomination of Loren Sweatt to be a Member of the National Mediation Board.
  • Nomination of Douglas Ralph to be a Member of the National Mediation Board.
  • S.4428 No Aid for Ghost Students Act of 2026.
