Hudson Falls woman charged with felony after receiving benefits from two States at same time

INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED: Ednie Lauriston Age: 32 Hudson Falls, NY

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Ednie Lauristion (32), of Hudson Falls, for Grand Larceny 4th Degree, a Class E Felony, after a joint investigation by the Sheriff's Office and the Washington County Department of Social Services. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Lauriston had received SNAP benefits from Washington County Department of Social Services, at the same time she was already receiving those benefits from another State, resulting in her receiving benefits greater than $2,000 during this time.

Lauristion was arrested and released with an Appearance Ticket pending a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court.

(The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. SNAP helps low-income working people, senior citizens, the disabled and others feed their families.)
