We Want You to Know...

Welcome Figure Dedication
Yesterday, the Welcome Figure, Həʔapus sqʷəbay (Mother of Restoration), was dedicated in a beautiful ceremony attended by members of the Squaxin Island Tribe, artist and carver Andrea Wilbur-Sigo, and community partners. During the event, Wilbur-Sigo shared her vision for the healing the figure will bring to local waters and the broader community. Located near the base of the 4th Avenue Bridge in a newly landscaped area near Isthmus Park and adjacent to the waters that welcome salmon each year, the sculpture honors Coast Salish tradition, cultural partnership, and environmental restoration. The site is now open to the public, offering a place for reflection, connection, and peace for all who visit.

Traffic Box Voting Now Open
Vote now for your favorite designs in Olympia's 2026 Traffic Box Wrap Project. Choose from 100 artwork submissions by local artists on Engage Olympia through June 30. The 10 designs receiving the most votes will be installed on traffic boxes around town in 2026, and selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium. Read more.

Your Arts Walk, Your Feedback
Spring Arts Walk once again showcased the creativity, energy, and community spirit that make Olympia unique. Thank you to the artists, performers, hosts, volunteers, sponsors, and thousands of attendees who helped bring this season's event to life. As we celebrate another successful Arts Walk, we invite you to share your feedback through a short post-event survey, open through June 15. Your input helps shape future events and ensures Arts Walk continues to reflect and inspire our community. Learn more and take the survey in our full E-News feature.

Volunteer Opportunities
Join us for an upcoming Parks Stewardship Volunteer Opportunity! Tools, gloves, and light refreshments provided. Youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Learn more or sign up at Volunteer Olympia.

LBA Park Zip Line Temporarily Closed
The zip line at LBA Park is temporarily out of service while replacement parts are on order. Delivery is expected to take about a month, and we know that's disappointing news. We'll share updates once repairs are complete and the zip line is back in action.
