Northbound lane on Kunia Road near National Security Agency Facility closed through June 16

Posted on Jun 6, 2026 in Highways News, Main, News

HONOLULU - The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) closed the northbound lane of Kunia Road in the vicinity of the National Security Agency Facility between Kunia Drive and Wright Avenue at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 6. The section of Kunia Road fronting the slope will remain closed for approximately 10 days as crews work to stabilize slope damage.

After the initial 10-day 24/7 single-lane closure, HDOT will reopen the lane during peak traffic hours. An overall update on the slope stabilization will be provided next week as crews assess field conditions.

Traffic in both directions will be maintained on Kunia Road between Kunia Drive and Wright Avenue by contraflow in the southbound lane. Flaggers will control the alternating traffic throughout the single lane closure.
