Secretary-General of ASEAN officiates 59th ASEAN Day Celebrations

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today officiated the 59th ASEAN Day Celebrations, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. In his welcome remarks, SG Dr. Kao underscored that this year's commemoration marks three significant milestones in ASEAN's journey: 1) Timor-Leste as ASEAN's 11th Member State, 2) Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and 3) the first year of implementation of ASEAN Vision 2045: Our Shared Future. Held under the theme "Navigating Our Future, Together," the celebration featured the ASEAN Chair's pre-recorded remarks from H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines. H.E. Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia also attended the celebrations and delivered an ASEAN Day address.
