Public Invited to Presentation on Bennington Battle Monument Survey Results

MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Vermont Division for Historic Preservation (VDHP) will host a virtual presentation on Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM to share the results of the Bennington Battle Monument Community Survey.

Following in-person and virtual community conversations held this past spring, a survey was conducted to provide an opportunity for people to weigh in on the monument's future. Public interest far exceeded expectations; organizers originally aimed for 300 responses, and the survey gathered feedback from more than 900 individuals sharing their perspectives on the landmark.

The upcoming presentation will summarize what respondents shared about the site's significance and priorities for its future. Additionally, the virtual session will provide brief updates on the ongoing structural monitoring of the monument and outline the options to remedy the site's non-functional elevator system.
