HKIA Flights Gradually Resume with Normal Operations Expected Tomorrow Morning

(Hong Kong, 26 July 2026, 1730rs) - As Severe Tropical Storm Noul continues to move away from Hong Kong, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is expected to handle about 670 flights today with about 360 flights cancelled.

With the implementation of the Flight Rescheduling Control System, the airport has gradually resumed flight operations in the afternoon. All three runways will operate overnight when necessary. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) aims to resume normal flight operations tomorrow morning.

AAHK advises passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information before travelling to the airport. Passengers should proceed to the airport only after confirming their flight schedules and seat arrangements, and allow sufficient travel time to the airport. The latest flight information is available on the HKIA website and My HKG mobile application.

Throughout the storm, operations at HKIA remained largely smooth and orderly. AAHK activated the Airport Emergency Centre and implemented a series of passenger support measures. A temporary rest area was established at the transition deck of Terminal 1, providing about 600 seats and mobile phone charging facilities. Around 100 staff members were deployed by AAHK to distribute essential supplies, including drinks, snacks or blankets, while kids were given toys, catering to the different needs of passengers and families. AAHK also distributed meal vouchers to arriving passengers for use at airport restaurants when Typhoon Signal No. 9 was hoisted. Some airport restaurants and retail outlets remained open round the clock.

The airport's Taxi Queue Ticket System was immediately activated after Typhoon Signal No. 8 was hoisted, allowing passengers to obtain queue tickets via ticketing kiosks or a mobile application without having to stand in line. Around 1,800 queue tickets were issued in total.

To ensure sufficient manpower to support airport operations and passenger services, AAHK set up staff resting facilities and arranged shuttle bus services for airport staff travelling between the Airport Island and Tung Chung MTR Station.
