VanTrust Real Estate today unveiled "Highpoint" as the name of its major mixed-use development taking shape at State Line Road and College Boulevard in Leawood, Kansas. The launch comes with a new website, http://highpoint-leawood.com, as construction moves full speed ahead on Lockton's future global headquarters.
Formerly referenced as Hallbrook North during the planning phase, the 34-acre, $766 million development will connect office, residential, hospitality, dining, retail and childcare with green space.
The name is inspired by the development's positioning at one of the region's highest elevations. Lockton's 176-foot tower will be a centerpiece of the development and will be the tallest building in Leawood, serving as a generational landmark along Interstate 435. Architecture and landscaping are designed to provide open views and create inviting spaces throughout.
"Highpoint represents what we envision for this development," said Justin Duff, vice president of development at VanTrust. "We're creating a distinctive destination that brings together workplaces, residences, hospitality, dining and amenities, all designed around people and connection. As construction becomes more visible, the Highpoint name gives an identity to what's taking shape. It also reflects the lasting standard we intend to set here."
Construction of Lockton's 12-story, 455,000 square foot global headquarters and retreat center is underway. The development will also include a +/-145 room hotel with an event center, two luxury apartment buildings, a 14,000-square-foot childcare center, and retail and restaurant space. Lockton, the world's largest privately held, independent insurance brokerage, is Highpoint's anchor tenant. VanTrust broke ground on the new global headquarters in May 2026 and plans to deliver in Q1 2030. The new headquarters will provide room for Lockton's continued growth in the Kansas City region, with the potential of future expansion.
"Highpoint reflects the environment we envisioned when we chose this site," said Julie Gibson, chief marketing officer of Lockton. "It supports our people, our growth and the way we'll work in the future. We're excited to be part of a development that brings businesses, residents and amenities together in a connected setting."
Highpoint's development plan and vision puts connection first. Walkable paths, green space, landscaping and gathering areas will link office, residential, hospitality, retail and restaurant uses. Trails will also connect Highpoint to Leawood City Park. "It's exciting to see the progress of Highpoint," said Marc Elkins, mayor of Leawood. "This site has held a lot of promise, and now residents can see it taking shape. Highpoint will bring a new landmark to our skyline, along with trails, green space and a direct connection to Leawood City Park that the whole community can enjoy. We're proud to see this investment happening in Leawood and look forward to watching it grow."
