VEDP's Supply Chain Optimization Program Receives NASBITE International Program Excellence Award

RICHMOND, VA -The Virginia Economic Development Partnership received the 2026 NASBITE International Program Excellence Award in recognition of its Supply Chain Optimization Program. NASBITE International recognized the program as an outstanding and innovative initiative in international education, counseling and training.

Presented by NASBITE International, this award honors programs that demonstrate excellence in advancing global trade and international business development. SCOP won the award for its unique, state-led approach to helping Virginia companies evaluate, strengthen and optimize their supply chains to improve global competitiveness. It was one of three programs to receive the award.

"The recognition from NASBITE International affirms the impact this program has for Virginia companies navigating increasingly complex global supply chains," said Stephanie Agee, senior vice president of International Trade and chief administrative officer at VEDP. "SCOP was designed to be flexible, hands-on, and tailored to each participant. From assessments and expert counseling to training and targeted reimbursements, the program gives Virginia companies practical tools they can apply immediately to strengthen operations and support long-term international growth," she said.

Launched in 2022 and implemented by VEDP under Virginia's International Trade Strategic Plan, SCOP is the nation's first official, state-supported program dedicated exclusively to supply chain optimization. The program supports Virginia businesses of all sizes and across industries by providing supply chain assessments, one-on-one expert counseling, specialized training, and access to reimbursements for supply chain-related expenses.

Each year, SCOP selects participating companies for a year-long engagement that begins with a comprehensive supply chain assessment and continues with customized action planning and expert support. The program is fully funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, removing financial barriers and allowing companies across sectors and size categories to participate. Since its launch, SCOP has assisted 88 Virginia companies across 16 industries, helping businesses turn supply chains into strategic assets for growth.

"This year's award winners have excelled within the ever-evolving field of international trade and in doing so, have shown great leadership in advancing our industry," said NASBITE International President Mike Seibert. "They are all passionate about supporting and improving current international trade practices, and we have the distinct pleasure to honor their achievements to date."
