WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), member of the House Agriculture Committee, questioned Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Fordyce about overseeing federal crop insurance, investments in conservation workforce and programs, and cuts to SNAP for Illinois families.

"Illinois farmers don't want handouts-they want a fair shot at earning an honest living and certainty that we'll have their backs if disaster strikes," said Congressman Sorensen. "As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I am committed to advocating for fair federal crop insurance compensation and adequate conservation program support that give our farmers certainty while fighting back against cuts to SNAP assistance for Illinois families."

Congressman Eric Sorensen represents Illinois' 17th District in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois' Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
