LEWISTON- The Idaho Transportation Department invites members of the media to visit local schools as the department unveils named plows to the winners of the Name a Snowplow contest.
Classrooms from across Idaho were invited to submit names to the contest last fall. ITD employees then selected two names for each area of the state.
The names will be visibly displayed across plow blades, with that plow appearing at winning schools and stickers given to the creative winning students. This contest provides the opportunity for additional winter driving safety education and engaging the community in the important work ITD plow drivers do each winter.
In North Central Idaho, plow celebration events will be held:
Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Salmon River High School in Riggins at 10 a.m.
Winning Plow Name: Frosty
Friday, Jan. 30, at Genesee Community School in Genesee at 11 a.m.
Winning Plow Name: Blizzard Basher
Each school celebration is expected to last less than an hour and will provide opportunities to see the named plow and speak to ITD operators. These events are not open to the general public. Please RSVP to Megan Jahns at [email protected] or 208-625-9171.
