Mesa neighborhoods are invited to join the America250: Neighborhood Celebration by taking the pledge and bringing neighbors together through celebrations, activities or community service. Neighborhoods that take the pledge and complete an eligible gathering can also be entered into a raffle for one of two $250 prizes to support a neighborhood gathering in 2027.

An upcoming eligible Neighborhood Celebration activity is Love Your City, Mesa's National Day of Service, on Sept, 12. Neighborhoods that participate in a volunteer project are also eligible for the raffle by submitting their America250 pledge before the volunteer event.

Already, 23 neighborhoods have taken the pledge to celebrate America250, and five neighborhood celebrations were held during the Fourth of July weekend.

"The America250: Neighborhood Celebration is about more than commemorating our nation's history; it's about strengthening the connections that make Mesa's neighborhoods thrive," said Cynthia Ezcurra, Community Engagement Administrator for the City of Mesa. "Whether neighbors gather for a celebration or simply spend time getting to know one another, these shared experiences build a stronger sense of community and create lasting memories. We encourage every neighborhood to take the pledge and be part of this nationwide celebration."

Residents can plan their own gatherings using the 25.0 Ideas activity guide, which provides creative ways for neighbors to connect, celebrate, and build community throughout the year. Neighborhoods may also check out a "Party in the Box," which includes fun and engaging activities for youth and adults to help make every celebration a success.

To be eligible for the $250 raffle, neighborhoods must submit their America250: Neighborhood Celebration pledge at least two weeks before their planned gathering and successfully complete the event.

The America250: Neighborhood Celebration is designed to strengthen neighborhood connections, foster community pride, and create lasting memories while honoring America's 250th anniversary through local engagement and service.
