Willkie partner Rita Mitchell has been featured in a GIR roundtable discussion about the investigations landscape with several of the contributing editors of the latest Practitioner's Guide to Global Investigations.
Rita, a partner in Willkie's Investigations & Enforcement and White Collar Defense Practices in London, participated in the Q&A with two of the new guide's other contributing editors. They discussed recent developments in cross-border investigations, including the ongoing cooperation between the U.S. and UK authorities, the increase in parallel civil, regulatory and criminal proceedings arising from investigations, and emerging technology in the space.
The panel also addressed companies' compliance priorities and the keys to building an effective yet practical internal investigations program.
"It's about setting clear standards and guidelines for how the investigation should be conducted, its parameters and ensuring that the investigations team has a clearly defined scope and then manages that scope throughout and documents its findings accordingly," Rita told GIR.
