A New Role for Ian Stewart

We are excited to announce that Ian Stewart has been promoted to supervising producer of "The Headlines."

In this new role, Ian will be responsible for shaping the daily news roundup that many listeners have made part of their morning routine. He will work closely with editors and reporters across the newsroom to ensure the show captures the depth of Times reporting, whether it's on-the-ground breaking news dispatches or the takeaways of big investigations.

Ian has worked on "The Headlines" since 2022 and was instrumental in launching the current iteration, based out of London. He's shaped its sound and texture, honed the format and has stepped in to lead the whole production on multiple occasions.

He's equally adept at distilling a Supreme Court decision in 90 seconds as he is at crafting a segment about how golden retrievers have never won the top prize at Westminster. His skill at delivering the show's mix of hard news and moments of delight has helped make the show a go-to platform for consuming The Times's coverage.

Before joining The Times, Ian spent his career working at NPR, including on "Weekend Edition" and "Up First." He field-produced everything from election to hurricane coverage, and was NPR's coordinating producer in Ukraine when Russia invaded in 2022.

We are excited to have him continue to lead production of "The Headlines."
