Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs represents the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the ASEAN Senior Officials' meeting

On 9 September 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, represented the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM), held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines.

The Meeting discussed key issues, including ASEAN's relations with external partners, follow-up on the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on the situation in Myanmar, as well as preparations for the 49th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in November 2026.

On the same day, the Deputy Permanent Secretary also attended the ASEAN Plus Three Preparatory Senior Officials' Meeting (APT Prep-SOM), which discussed ways to advance APT as a mechanism for practical cooperation, including strengthening food and energy security and reinforcing financial mechanisms to better address external shocks.
