Former Residential Reentry Center Employee Charged with Illegally Accepting Gratuities from Inmate

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - On October 14, 2026, SHYENNE WHITE, was charged with Receiving Illegal Gratuity by a Public Official, announced U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle.

The bill of information alleges that WHITE, while working as a monitor at a residential recovery center for federal inmates, repeatedly and deliberately failed to report an inmate's noncompliance with location monitoring. It is alleged that WHITE accepted about $1,510 in gratuity payments from the inmate. If convicted, WHITE faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, which may be followed by up to one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

U.S. Attorney Courcelle reiterated that the bill of information is merely a charging document and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chandra Menon of the Public Integrity Unit is in charge of the prosecution.
