Friday, March 6, 2026 marks the final day of service for City Manager Wynette Reed, closing a remarkable chapter in the city of Goodyear's history.
Reed announced her retirement in October, capping a public service career that has spanned more than 39 years. During her tenure with Goodyear, she has helped guide the city through transformative growth, strengthened organizational excellence, and remained steadfastly focused on delivering high-quality services to residents.
As she prepares to step away from the role, Reed shares a heartfelt message with the community and city team:
"Serving as the City Manager of Goodyear has been the honor of my lifetime. I am deeply grateful for the trust the city council and community has placed in me and for the opportunity to help shape a city that is innovative, resilient and full of heart. But the truth is, Goodyear would not be what it is today without our extraordinary team of employees. These dedicated professionals show up rain or shine, day and night, committed to delivering the essential services our residents depend on. They care deeply about this community, and it has been my privilege to serve alongside them. While this marks the end of my chapter, I truly believe this is just the beginning for Goodyear. The future is bright, and I cannot wait to see all that this city accomplishes in the years ahead."
The Goodyear City Council has initiated a comprehensive recruitment process to select Goodyear's next city manager. The city remains committed to transparency and will continue to provide updates as the process moves forward.
A series of interviews with candidates will take place before the end of the month when the city council is expected to make their appointment. Until a permanent city manager is appointed by the city council, Deputy City Manager Kini Knudson will serve as interim city manager.
As Goodyear looks to the future, the city expresses its sincere gratitude to Wynette Reed for her leadership, integrity and lasting contributions. Her legacy will continue to shape the organization and the community for years to come.
