On September 22, in New York, within the framework of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the High-level Meeting on the 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
The Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of advancing the women's empowerment agenda for the benefit of a more resilient society and sustainable future.
Women's participation in the executive, legislative, and judicial bodies in Armenia, as well as opportunities in education and the STEM fields, were touched upon. In this context, the systematic approach of Armenia aimed at integrating gender issues into a broader development agenda was stressed.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan also touched upon the upcoming 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be hosted in Armenia in 2026, emphasizing the vision of Armenia to amplify the voices of those groups most affected by biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.
The Deputy Minister stressed that Armenia has chosen climate justice as its principal commitment under the Beijing+30 agenda, recognizing that women, particularly those in rural and displaced communities, stand at the forefront of climate change and bear its heaviest burdens.
The Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment of Armenia to protecting the rights of women and girls, enhancing their opportunities and ensuring inclusivity.
