Narasimha Boddeti, assistant professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Washington State University, has been named a Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture Dean's Faculty Fellow.
The Dean's Fellows program recognizes outstanding faculty whose research, teaching, and service are advancing the College's mission and creating new opportunities for students and colleagues alike.
Established in 2025 through donor support, the fellowship allows Voiland College to reward excellence across disciplines. Recipients receive a multi-year award to expand their research programs, enrich student experiences, and pursue emerging opportunities in their fields.
"We are proud to recognize Dr. Boddeti for his outstanding contributions to research and education," said Partha Pande, dean of the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. "His work exemplifies the innovation, creativity, and commitment to excellence that define our college and position WSU as a leader in engineering research."
Boddeti is a Berry Family Assistant Professor in WSU's School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, where he leads research at the intersection of computational mechanics, topology optimization, additive manufacturing, architected materials, and composites. His work focuses on designing advanced materials and structures with tailored properties, combining computational modeling and innovative manufacturing techniques to solve complex engineering challenges and create materials that perform beyond the limits of conventional designs. Boddeti's research has advanced the fields of architected materials, digital manufacturing and advanced composites, with applications ranging from aerospace and infrastructure to soft robotics. In 2024, he received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, a five-year grant supporting his pioneering work on soft architected materials that integrate liquids within 3D-printed solids, mimicking the behavior of biological tissues and opening new possibilities for next-generation biomedical and soft robotics applications.
Boddeti joins four other Dean's Faculty Fellows:
Omar Al-Hassawi, associate professor, School of Design and Construction.
Venera Arnaoudova, associate professor and associate director, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Jean-Sabin McEwen, professor, Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering.
Arezoo Zare, assistant professor, School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
