Join I Love A Clean San Diego for a free workshop! You'll get to learn how to reduce food waste, compost at home, and start/maintain a vermicomposting bin. (Vermicomposting = worm composting.) "From Scraps to Soil: Vermicomposting Workshop" will be held at the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens on Sat., August 22 at 10:30 a.m.

This workshop will cover:

  • How to reduce food waste in the kitchen.
  • The impact of keeping food waste out of landfills through composting and organic waste recycling programs.
  • Tips and tricks on how to use your curbside green bin.
  • Making a vermicomposting bin you can take home with you!

Registration is required, and supplies are limited to one bin per household, with priority given to residents of the City of Vista.

I Love A Clean San Diego will also have their Sprouting Station open for attendees to plant fruit and vegetable seeds to take home and grow. You'll be able to use the finished compost from your vermicomposting bin as fertilizer!
