Ingram Library Services and the American Library Association Announce First-of-its-Kind Collaboration to Advance the Future of Libraries

NASHVILLE, TENN - June 25, 2026 - Ingram Library Services, a division of Ingram Content Group, and the American Library Association (ALA) today announced a multi-year collaboration focused on strengthening libraries, advancing professional development, and cultivating the next generation of library leaders.

The engagement, which runs through May 2029, reflects a shared commitment to supporting libraries and the communities they serve through collaboration and innovation.

At the heart of the collaboration is the creation of the Ingram Content Group/ALA Leadership Cohort Program, which will bring together 15 library professionals annually for a year-long experience designed to build leadership skills, encourage mentorship, and prepare participants to shape the future of libraries.

"This collaboration is an investment in people and in the future of our profession," said Dan Montgomery, Executive Director of the American Library Association. "Together with Ingram, we're empowering librarians to lead, innovate, and strengthen their communities."

The cohort program is designed to foster leadership development across key areas including collection strategy, community engagement, advocacy, and technology adoption. Participants will receive access to ALA professional resources, conference participation, and a network of peers that extends beyond the program year, reinforcing the impact of library professionals nationwide.

"Ingram has long believed in the transformative power of libraries," said Carolyn Morris, Vice President of Ingram Library Services. "This collaboration with ALA reinforces our commitment to libraries and the essential role they play in their communities. Together, we are investing in people-the leaders who will guide libraries through change and ensure they remain relevant and indispensable."

In addition to the leadership cohort, the collaboration also provides support for key ALA initiatives and events, including the ALA 150th Anniversary Celebration, professional programming at the Annual Conference, and ongoing thought leadership on issues shaping the future of libraries.

The first cohort opportunity will be announced during the 2026 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago, with programming set to begin in October 2026.
