Statement from the University of Evansville on the Passing of Jordan Scott

"The University of Evansville is heartbroken to share the passing of sophomore student and women's basketball student-athlete Jordan Scott.
Jordan was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Warrick County on Sunday evening. She was a cherished member of the Purple Aces family, and her loss is being felt deeply across our campus, especially by her teammates, coaches, classmates, and friends.
"We are heartbroken by Jordan's passing. Jordan was a beloved member of our Purple Aces family, and we are grateful that she chose to share part of her life with us," said Dr. Kenneth "Ziggy" Siegfried, Vice President for Athletics. "Our hearts are especially with her sister and teammate, Jayden, their parents and family, and Jordan's teammates and coaches. We will surround them with our love, care, and support in the difficult days ahead."
"There is no simple way to put it, but our team and coaches are really struggling. While this is a new team and we have only been together for a short time, these young women have spent countless hours together this summer and fall building something special, and they have quickly become a family," said Ben Wierzba, UE head women's basketball coach. "Jordan was a meaningful part of the family, and her presence, personality, and spirit made an impact on all of us. Our hearts our broken for her family and especially for Jayden. Jordan will always be a part of the Evansville Women's Basketball Program."
The University is providing support and counseling resources for students, student-athletes, faculty, and staff affected by Jordan's passing.
Additional information about opportunities for the University community to honor and remember Jordan will be shared when appropriate and in coordination with her family.
The University of Evansville extends its deepest condolences to the Scott family and asks the community to keep them in their thoughts during this difficult time."
