April 14, 2026 - The Bettendorf Public Library is inviting the community to unleash their inner hero and celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Several special activities are taking place at the library as part of this worldwide event:
Free Comic Books
The library will have a handpicked selection of comic book titles available for all ages to take home.
Raffles
Every attendee can enter a raffle for a gift card to In This Issue Comics (2801 State Street). If you attend in costume, you will receive an extra raffle entry. The library will also raffle off mystery prizes and other related comic book merchandise.
Crafts
Visit the library's Creation Studio to select free comics and create family-friendly crafts.
Selfie Station
Once you grab your free comic book or create a craft, snap a picture at the library's selfie station located in the youth area.
Comics Plus
Check out the library's digital collection of comics, graphic novels, and manga called Comics Plus, accessible to all Bettendorf Public Library cardholders. There are no waitlists or checkout limits, and thousands of titles are available across three collections:
Physical graphic novels and manga are also available for checkout by visiting the Library Catalog.
