VICENZA, Italy - U.S. Army Garrison Italy's Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program has once again earned top recognition, receiving two major honors in the Army's 2025 BOSS Awards.
The garrison's BOSS program supports single servicemembers across the Vicenza and Darby military communities. This year, Camp Darby's BOSS program was named Small BOSS Program of the Year, while Cathy Towers received the Feltus Edwards Award for BOSS Advisor of the Year.
The awards follow a strong track record for USAG Italy. In 2024, the USAG Italy won the Army's overall BOSS Program of the Year, with evaluators praising its community service, cultural exchange events, and quality-of-life initiatives. In 2024, Towers also earned the Advisor of the Year award, underscoring the program's sustained excellence.
Garrison leaders said the back-to-back honors demonstrate the Italy team's continued leadership among BOSS programs worldwide. USAG Italy Command Sgt. Maj. Ricardo Moreno said the recognition reflects the team's dedication.
"Our BOSS team has shown unmatched commitment and professionalism," Moreno said. "These awards highlight the quality of their work and the time they've invested to make this one of the Army's best programs."
Tim Hockenberry, the Army's BOSS Program Manager, said this year's competition was highly competitive.
"The competition was fierce and really showed what individuals, teams, and garrisons have been doing for the single Soldier population," Hockenberry said. "I could not be prouder of what our program is doing for the Army."
"We are honored to be the recipients of the FY25 Small Garrison BOSS Program of the Year award, "said Staff Sgt. Christopher Rossi, camp Darby BOSS president. "The support we have received from USAG Italy Command Sgt. Maj Moreno has been instrumental in providing our services to all service members, especially in a garrison that is 75% Air Force manned."
Rossi underlined that this achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and long hours put in by the incredible BOSS team.
"Cathy Towers Winning this award has motivated our team to surpass last year's statistics and make an even greater impact on our community in FY26."
