Statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus regarding the deaths of civilians resulting from the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East

28 February 2026

In connection with the commencement of joint military actions by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, we resolutely condemn any armed actions leading to the loss of civilian lives, including those resulting from the indiscriminate use of force.

We are particularly shocked by the news from the Iranian city of Minab, where dozens of children were killed following a strike on a girls' school. At this moment, our thoughts are with the families of the victims. We sincerely mourn alongside them.

In this regard, we cannot help but ask: how can the deaths of innocent girls who dreamed of a future bring the resolution of any political issue, even the most complex, any closer? We are convinced that there is not, and cannot be, any goal that justifies the death of children.

We once again call upon all parties to return to resolving disputes exclusively through political and diplomatic means. We believe that the international community must make every effort to prevent civilian casualties and the further escalation of violence.
