On November 5, a batch of equipments was donated to the Centre d'Accueil de Terre Rouge (CATR) by the Chinese Embassy. H.E. Mr. Dharambeer Gokhool, GCSK, President of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E. Dr. Huang Shifang, Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Sam Lauthan, Chairperson of NADC and Mr. Jean Bruneau, President of CATR, attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Huang introduced China's stance in combating drug-related issues and appreciated the efforts made by the Mauritian government, along with institutions like CATR, in addressing drug problems and helping out drug victims. She noted that the Chinese Embassy is willing to carry forward collaboration with Mauritius in the cause of drug prevention.
President Gokhool said that fighting drugs is Mauritius' national priority. The donation by the Chinese Embassy is another example of the enduring friendship between our two countries and China's constant support for Mauritian society. The Mauritian side is willing to enhance bilateral exchanges to better safeguard the benefits of our peoples.
