Firefighters are prioritizing home protection as the Wrights Spring Fire expanded to 51,687 acres Tuesday morning. The blaze, located approximately two miles west of Sprague River, remains at 0 percent containment with 656 personnel currently assigned to the incident.
Fire officials report steady progress in the Flat Lake and Saddle Mountain areas as crews reinforce and improve control lines. To the southeast, firefighters used bulldozers to construct new lines on both sides of Bliss Road. Overnight, teams conducted strategic firing operations, intentional burns used to remove fuel, along the fire's southwest edge to strengthen existing barriers.
On the northern flank, structural firefighters are focused on mopping up around buildings where the fire has already passed. Proactive structure protection and defensibility improvements are continuing in the Yonna Woods and Bly Mountain areas to prepare for potential fire movement
Forecasters expect warm, very dry, and breezy conditions to persist through Wednesday. Temperatures are projected to reach the mid-80s on ridgetops and the low 90s in valleys, while humidity levels could drop as low as 13%. These conditions may lead to increased fire activity throughout the perimeter.
Multiple evacuation levels remain in effect for Klamath County. Find specific zone information on the Genasys Protect map.
Emergency shelters are available at the following locations:
Several road closures are in place due to heavy fire traffic and suppression activity:
An emergency closure remains in effect for a large portion of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Officials are asking the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the area to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is active over the fire zone. The public is reminded that flying unauthorized drones in the area is illegal and will force the immediate grounding of all firefighting aircraft.
