Alternating Lane Closure Scheduled for Eastbound and Westbound State Route 4 (SR-4) Between San Pablo Avenue/I-80 and SR-242 in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County - Caltrans will continue overnight alternating lane closures on eastbound and westbound State Route 4 (SR-4) between I-80/San Pablo Avenue in Hercules and State Route 242 (SR-242) in the city of Concord to complete striping and paving operations along the highway. Work is scheduled to continue through June 2026.

These closures support ongoing roadway improvements including pavement work, striping, and traffic-safety enhancements along the SR-4 corridor. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Closure Hours:

  • Westbound (WB): SR-242 to I-80, 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Monday-Friday)
  • Eastbound (EB): San Pablo Avenue to I-680, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Monday-Friday)

  • Possible delays-drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time
