NEWS BRIEF: Mono County Residents Urged to Prepare for Winter Storms; Free Sandbags Available Countywide

MONO COUNTY, CA (December 23, 2025) - With winter storms expected to bring a mix of rain, snow, and potential flooding to the region, Mono County officials are urging residents and business owners to take proactive steps to protect their property.

To assist with flood prevention, Mono County has staged free sand and sandbags at several locations. These resources are intended for temporary flood protection. Residents are reminded that they must bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill and transport the bags themselves, as County staff are not available to fill, deliver, or install sandbags.

  • Benton: Road Shop - 25574 Hwy. 6
  • Bridgeport: Road Shop - 207 Jack Sawyer Rd.
  • Chalfant: Fire Station - 215 Valley Rd.
  • June Lake: Community Center - 90 W. Granite Ave.
  • Lee Vining: 51596 Hwy. 395 (Cinders also available at this location)
  • Long Valley: Fire Dept. - 3605 Crowley Lake Dr.
  • Walker: Road Shop - 62 Shop Rd.
