James to Host Two Constituent Events in August

HARRISBURG - Rep. Lee James (R-Venango/Crawford) announced he is inviting constituents to attend two noteworthy events in August.

The first is his 14th Annual Senior Expo, which will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, located at 29 Shuffstall St. in Franklin. Doors open at 10 a.m. Vendors will be there to provide information about programs and services for senior citizens. Registration is not required.

"My Senior Expo is a great way for older adults and their families to connect with valuable resources, learn about available services and enjoy a day dedicated to their well-being," said James. "I encourage eligible residents to attend and take advantage of everything this event has to offer."

The second event he is hosting is Human Trafficking 101: Spotting the Signs, which is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m., at the Oil Region Venango Campus - Rhoades Center. The address is 1801 W. First St. in Oil City. He is partnering with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to share valuable information with attendees about spotting the signs of various forms of human trafficking and ways to report it to law enforcement. Registration is required. James encourages residents to RSVP by calling 814-827-6054.

"Worldwide trafficking generates up to $200 billion per year. This event is a great opportunity to spread awareness to people about the evil that's happening in our backyards and how to report it to law enforcement," said James. "Digital grooming will be a major focus in this discussion. That's when young people engage in discussions through their cell phones with people they have never seen or met, and parents are not aware of these communications. We must do everything we can to protect our children and neighbors."
