WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued the following statement applauding the selection of Johnston, Iowa, as the global headquarters for Vylor, Corteva's seed spinoff company.
"Since the day we learned of Corteva's plans to spin off its seed unit, the Iowa delegation knew there was no better location for its headquarters than Johnston, Iowa. One hundred years ago, Pioneer, Corteva's flagship seed brand, was founded by Henry A. Wallace in the 'Tall Corn State.' It's only fitting that Vylor will call Iowa home. With deep roots in our soil, I know the innovators and farmers of Iowa will continue to yield fields of opportunities for centuries to come," Grassley said.
Background:
Corteva announced plans to spin off its seed business on October 1, 2025. That same day, Grassley, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa), Zach Nunn (R-Iowa), Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds wrote to Corteva Agriscience's CEO Chuck Magro urging Corteva to headquarter its new seed company in Johnston, Iowa.
In January, Grassley spoke to Magro by phone encouraging investment in Johnston.
Presently, Corteva has 3,000 jobs in Iowa, including senior leadership, nine research and development locations, ample test plots and access to the best growers in the world. Iowa is the number one commercial state for Corteva with $1.3 billion in sales.
