DC Housing Authority (DCHA) residents of Woodland Terrace enjoyed the summer season on Saturday, June 27, with a Rebuilding Our Communities Block Party.
Families, residents and others from the local community enjoyed face painting, bounce houses, food, live music, a balloon release and more. Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed one another's company and strengthened community bonds.
Before the block party started, DCHA staff and volunteers distributed free groceries to residents at Woodland Terrace.
Service providers were also in attendance, connecting DCHA residents and community members with resources regarding education, workforce development, job opportunities, healthcare and more. Providers included local nonprofits, academic institutions, private employers, and DC government agencies committed to supporting its residents.
The Woodland Terrace block party was part of DCHA's Rebuilding Our Communities initiative, which focuses on building community while also offering individuals access to helpful resources. DCHA will host additional events in this series at other public housing communities throughout the summer.
DCHA is grateful for the service providers who helped make this event possible.
