Integrated Management Strategies for Ram and Janaki Temple Complexes in Janakpurdham Sacred Sites

The first phase of the project initiated development of a management framework for the Ram Temple and Janaki Temple Complex, Nepal's World Heritage Tentative List, addressing specific challenges and proposing sustainable solutions that harmonize tourism, conservation, and community needs.

The workshop held on 8 and 9 December 2025 in Janakpurdham saw enthusiastic participation from wide range of local stakeholders from Janakpurdham , including municipal representatives, head priests from both temple complexes, local experts, and representatives from Department of Archaeology.

This inaugural workshop marks the beginning of a transformative four-year exercise to develop a comprehensive management framework for four different heritage sites in Nepal, starting with the Ram and Janaki Temple Complex.
