The Board of Trustees has selected Andy Chaff to lead Clay Electric as the cooperative's sixth general manager and CEO.
"I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their commitment to doing what's right for our members and employees, and I want to thank them for their vote of confidence. I'm deeply honored to serve as your next CEO," Chaff said in a prepared statement. "Clay Electric has a proud history, one built on hard work, integrity and teamwork. I want to honor that legacy while continuing to build on it."
Chaff will succeed Ricky Davis, who is retiring after 46 years of service, nearly 17 as general manager.
"It's been an honor to serve the members of this cooperative for nearly five decades," current GM/CEO Ricky Davis said in a statement. "I've had the privilege of working alongside dedicated employees who care deeply about our members and our mission. Andy is a proven leader who knows this cooperative inside and out, and I have every confidence that he will continue to move Clay Electric forward."
Chaff brings 34 years of experience with Clay Electric, where he started in Sept. 1991 as an engineering technician. His career steadily advanced, serving as a field engineer, district engineer and district line supervisor. He's served as district manager of the Orange Park District Office since 2009, overseeing service reliability and member operations across one of the co-op's largest districts.
Chaff expressed his gratitude for Davis' leadership and mentorship, saying, "Ricky has been an incredible example of dedication and steady leadership. I'm grateful for the foundation he's built and the trust he's placed in me to continue that work."
Chaff will assume his new role in January.
