SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Shepherd University is preparing MBA students for an AI-driven economy through MBA 599: AI in Business, a course designed to build practical skills in AI and its application across industries.

"We teach AI in Business by building a strong foundational understanding and prompt engineering mastery, while empowering students to apply these skills hands-on," said Dr. James Dovel, associate professor of business administration and chair of the Department of Business and Sport Administration. "Students research cutting-edge advancements in the field and develop original learning materials for the next generation of learners."

MBA 599 students complete hands-on, project-based work that applies AI theory to real-world business scenarios. Projects include developing AI systems, conducting operational analyses, and producing AI-generated textbooks on topics such as AI infrastructure, systems design, and core fundamentals.

Over the past two years, students have produced two textbooks through the course, demonstrating applied knowledge of emerging technology.

The course emphasizes evaluation and implementation in business settings, challenging students to evaluate how these tools function and how they can be used effectively across industries. It is designed to be delivered traditionally or as an accelerated eight-week course as part of Shepherd University's online MBA program.

Shepherd University's online MBA is a flexible, fully asynchronous program designed for working professionals seeking to develop advanced leadership, strategic, and analytical skills through a practical, career-focused curriculum.
