New Economic Data: Donald Trump’s Frozen Job Market is Making it Nearly Impossible for Americans to Find a Job or Get Promoted Arrow

Today, new economic data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary revealed a disastrous job market: For the first time in years, the US now has more unemployed people than job openings. The official "hiring rate" in the US is just 3.3% - nearly the lowest level since 2013.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Today's jobs numbers are a flashing warning sign: it's becoming harder and harder for Americans to find a job and get ahead. Donald Trump's unhinged economic policies have left working families squeezed from every direction - his policies have driven up costs, slashed health care, and now there aren't enough jobs for all of the Americans struggling to find work. There's no getting around the fact that Americans are feeling the pain of Trump's economy - and Trump couldn't care less."

Today's job numbers are just the latest example of Trump's trainwreck economy. We also got economic data this week showing that US manufacturing contracted for a sixth straight month as factories deal with the fallout from Trump's reckless tariffs, with some manufacturers describing the current business environment as "much worse than the Great Recession."

Working families are getting hit hardest by Trump's erratic economic policies. Prices are rising on everything from groceries to household goods, farmers are being squeezed, and businesses small and large are being put into survival mode. It's no wonder that Americans are worried about how they're going to make ends meet, but while working families struggle, Trump's White House is focused on trying to "rebrand" their failed economic policies.
