New Utilities Portal Coming June 23, 2026

The City of Independence is launching MyMeter, a new online utilities portal, on June 23, 2026. The platform will give customers secure, around-the-clock access to their utility accounts from any device.

MyMeter offers an expanded set of self-service tools, including online bill payment, usage tracking, paperless billing enrollment, and automatic payment setup. Customers will also be able to store payment methods and manage account details without contacting Utilities Customer Service. "MyMeter is designed to make it easier for our customers to manage their utility accounts on their own schedule," said Joseph Hegendeffer, Director of Independence Power & Light. "We want every customer to have a straightforward, convenient experience - whether they're paying a bill, checking their usage, or updating their information."

Customers who currently have an online account through Invoice Cloud do not need to create a new account. Their information, including paperless billing enrollment, Auto Pay settings, and saved payment methods, will transfer automatically to MyMeter. To log in for the first time, existing users will select "Forgot your password" and follow the reset link sent to their email.

Customers who have not previously registered for online account access can create a MyMeter account on or after June 23 by visiting the portal and selecting "Create an account." Account holders will need their account number and the name shown on their utility bill to complete registration.

More information about MyMeter is available on the City's website.

The City will send a reminder email to current customers before the June 23 launch with additional guidance, a short video walkthrough, and answers to frequently asked questions.

As always, Utilities Customer Service is available to assist customers Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, by email at [email protected], by phone at (816) 325-7930, or in person at Independence Municipal Commons, 20201 E. Jackson Drive.
