Change to Customer Service Centers from Aug. 17-21

August 11, 2026 2:33 PM

The DC Housing Authority is implementing Processing with a Purpose Week from Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21, an initiative to better serve families and landlords who are part of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP).

From Aug. 17 through Aug. 21, DCHA's three Customer Service Centers will provide limited services* to walk-in visitors as the HCVP staff focuses on processing Requests for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) packets. During Processing with a Purpose Week, normal operations will continue at the DCHA Call Center (202-535-1000).

Before a voucher participant and a landlord sign a lease, the landlord must submit a completed RFTA packet to DCHA for review.

By dedicating the week-long period to RFTA processing, the HCVP team aims to get more voucher families leased up more quickly.

The Customer Service Centers will resume normal operations on Monday, Aug. 24.

DCHA appreciates the public's patience and understanding as we take this important step to improve service delivery for voucher families and their landlords.

During Processing with a Purpose Week (Aug. 17 - Aug. 21), our Customer Service Centers will offer limited services including:

  • Submit emergency requests.
  • Submit a transfer request (moving to another unit within DC).
  • Request copies or drop off documents, including Recertification.
  • Get assistance with RentCafe.
  • Get assistance scheduling appointments.
