New Mexican Ambassador to the OAS Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Mexico to the Organization of American States (OAS), Alejandro Encinas, presented his credentials today to Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin during a ceremony held at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Encinas stated that "Mexico recognizes the Organization of American States as an essential multilateral forum for respectful dialogue, consensus building, and cooperative solidarity among the States of the Americas," and emphasized that "my country's history within this Organization reflects a firm commitment to international law, democracy, the promotion and protection of human rights, and the peaceful settlement of disputes."

For his part, OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin affirmed that Mexico, "as a founding member of the Organization, has contributed to shaping a vision of regional commitment based on multilateral dialogue, the peaceful coexistence of nations, and respect for international law-values that guide the work of the OAS." He added, "At a time when the hemisphere faces increasingly complex and interconnected challenges, the active participation of a country represented by an ambassador of his experience and caliber will be essential to promoting constructive dialogue and practical cooperation."

Ambassador Encinas is an economist by profession, specializing in development and planning, and has built a distinguished career in the legislative and public service sectors of his country.
