On Tuesday, President Gitanas Nausėda congratulated Grand Duke Guillaume V of Luxembourg and all the people of this country on national day, the Official Birthday of the Grand Duke, and extended best wishes for continued prosperity, unity, and success.
Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that Lithuania and Luxembourg are fostering a dialogue based on shared values and mutual understanding, which is reinforced by successful cooperation at the multilateral level-within NATO, the European Union, and other multilateral formats.
According to the President, Lithuania values Luxembourg's contribution to regional security, including its financial contribution in supporting the adaptation of the Baltic States' military infrastructure to the needs of allies, and is grateful to the Luxembourg troops participating in NATO's multinational battlegroup in Lithuania.
"I am pleased that Lithuania has a reliable ally in NATO, and I hope that we will continue to strengthen our cooperation in security and defense," the message of congratulations reads.
President Gitanas Nausėda also underlined that the bilateral dialogue is further reinforced by growing economic cooperation, noting that Lithuania and Luxembourg have untapped potential in various high value-added sectors-from space and financial technologies to the startup ecosystem and life sciences.
The President also underscored Lithuania's and Luxembourg's common approach to European and global challenges and their effective cooperation in addressing them. This will be all the more important during Lithuania's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, during which Lithuania will seek to strengthen EU unity and ensure that Europe remains a reliable, resilient, and influential global actor.
"At this time, our solidarity and comprehensive support are needed by Ukraine, which is facing Russia's military aggression. I firmly believe that we will continue to provide consistent and full support to this country as it fights for freedom and the values of the entire democratic world," the President's message of congratulations reads.
