New benefit plan year begins July 1: What employees need to know

Benefit-eligible employees enrolled in Regence BlueShield of Idaho health coverage will begin a new benefit plan year on July 1, 2026. The new plan year includes updated member and group ID numbers and requires employees to take several steps to ensure uninterrupted access to benefits.

New Regence cards arriving soon

Due to a group restructure in Regence, members will be provided new group ID numbers and should receive a new card in the mail before July 1. Employees should review the following information to prepare for the plan year:

• This administrative change does not change medical benefits or coverage.
• Continue using the current member ID card through June 30, 2026.
• Begin using the new card on July 1, 2026.
• Update healthcare providers and pharmacies with new member ID information.
• Some members may receive a text message from 53542 with instructions for accessing a digital ID card before the physical card arrives.
• Create a new account at regence.com to access claims information, prescription details, provider search tools and other member resources.
• Employees enrolled in VSP vision coverage will also need to create a new account through vsp.com.
• Dental coverage is not affected. Continue using the same Blue Cross of Idaho dental member ID card for the FY 2027 plan year.

Early July travel and medical benefits

Employees traveling in early July should keep the following information in mind:

• Before travel, if you do not have a new ID card, contact Regence Customer Service for the new member and group ID information.
• In an event of emergency, seek care at the nearest hospital.
• Employees planning international travel are encouraged to contact Regence before departure to learn more about their coverage while abroad.
