Greensboro Planning Department Warns of Rezoning Scam

The Greensboro Planning Department is warning residents about a phishing scam targeting rezoning applicants.

The scam involves someone falsely identifying themselves as the Greensboro Planning Department's interim director and emailing residents or businesses that are currently in the process of rezoning a property. The fraudulent email requests payment to settle an invoice electronically.

All administrative fees for zoning requests are collected when an application is submitted to the City.

Rezoning applicants are encouraged to use caution when receiving unsolicited emails. Do not open unexpected attachments, click on links, or reply to suspicious messages. Official email correspondence from the City of Greensboro will always come from an email address using the @greensboro-nc.gov domain.
