The ACL-funded Community Care Corps programwill make approximately $3.57 million available through its 2027 request for proposals to support innovative volunteer programs that provide practical, nonmedical assistance to family caregivers, older adults, and adults with disabilities.
Of that funding, $1.5 million will be dedicated to volunteer chaperone transportation programs, which pair transportation with volunteer assistance and companionship to help individuals safely access nonemergency medical appointments and outpatient procedures. More than $2 million will support other innovative volunteer programs providing nonmedical assistance, such as companionship, help with household tasks, and other everyday support that helps people remain independent at home and in their communities.
Through the 2027 request for proposals, Community Care Corps will continue expanding a nationwide network of locally driven volunteer programs that connect families with practical support and strengthen communities. The 2027 funding also advances the goals of the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, particularly Goal 3, which focuses on strengthening services and supports.
Created through a cooperative agreement with ACL, Community Care Corps is managed by the Oasis Institute in partnership with USAging, Caregiver Action Network, and Altarum. Since launching in 2019, the program has supported community-based organizations across the country in developing and scaling volunteer programs tailored to local needs.
