IAEA to work with WM Symposia on nuclear waste management

WM Symposia, which hosts the annual Waste Management Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., announced it has signed a practical arrangement with the International Atomic Energy Agency aimed at strengthening international collaboration in the safe management of radioactive waste, decommissioning, and environmental remediation.

According to WM Symposia, the agreement, which was signed on September 17, formalizes a shared commitment to promote knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and capacity-building across the global nuclear community. The two organizations will work together to support the dissemination of best practices, foster innovation, and enhance stakeholder engagement in the field of nuclear waste management, WM Symposia added.

The practical arrangement will facilitate joint activities such as technical meetings and participation in the Waste Management Conference, widely regarded as the leading international conference for the management of radioactive material and related topics. The 52nd annual conference, WM2026, is scheduled for March 8-12 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
